Sector celebrates excellence at Creative Nova Scotia Conference and Awards Gala

The Nova Scotia Arts and Culture Partnership Council (NSACPC) would like to thank the arts and culture sector for participating in Creative Nova Scotia on November 1, 2008. We congratulate all prize winners from the 2008 Creative Nova Scotia Conference and Awards Gala held at Pier 21 in Halifax.

For details on the prize winners visit www.nsacpc.com The council would also like to thank the events sponsors, the Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage, MacDonnell Cultural Productions, Bristol and Halifax Sea Port for making the event a great success. The event generated new dialogue between the sector and the Council while also providing everyone involved the opportunity to learn and celebrate excellence.

One success of the conference and awards gala is the formation of a working group of community arts council representatives to draft the building blocks of a constitution to formalize an association of community arts councils in Nova Scotia. The working group will initially consist of Gene Lane of the Annapolis Region Community Arts Council, Trish Maynard of the Cobequid Arts Council, Yvette Rogers of artsCapeBreton, Darcy Rhyno of the Shelburne County Arts Council and George Klass of the Northumberland Arts Council.

The Council looks forward to additional organizations joining this working group, with an ultimate goal of representation from all communities in the province, both rural and urban.
